A note from Debra on her training philos0phy:
“Establishing a significant and successful equine partnership takes commitment, time and a training protocol which maximizes the horses’ potential and enhances the rider’s skills. This is where I focus my talent, skill and energy.
The key element I look for in each horse and rider/owner partnership is willingness.
Many ask, what is my training philosophy? It’s simple – consistent encouragement and development based on dressage classicism with modern sensibilities and a keen awareness of the horse’s mental and physical capabilities.
Above all, I strive to create and then embellish a partnership of trust, based upon respect, kindness and mutual achievement.”

About TRISH HELMER ~ Dressage Trainer/ Clinician
While growing up in Michigan, Trish started her dressage education with the United States “father of dressage” Chuck Grant. During that time, she decided that dressage and training horses was the only path she wanted to take, but her family encouraged her to have a more “secure” career. With that in mind, she completed her education degree and began working as a teacher at a local public school.
After a few years, she realized what she really wanted to do was help people improve their riding skills and at the same time help riding instructors improve their teaching skills. At that time, Meredith Manor was in its hey-day. Trish took a position teaching the students enrolled in the instructor program, and helped shape the careers of some of today’s top instructors.
Following her time as a teacher’s teacher, she went on to study with the top trainers: Christlot Boylen-Hanson, Egon von Neindorf, Dianna Rankin, George Thedorescu, Walter Zettl, Hank van Bergen, Kyra Kyrklund and Patrick Le Rolland.
Trish has trained many riders to the Grand Prix levels and is often considered by those on the east coast, to be one of the dressage world’s best kept secrets. She offers an immense depth of knowledge and a love of teaching. Constantly in demand as a clinician throughout the United States, she rarely has time to ride these days, but instead focuses on teaching and passing on the knowledge she has spent a lifetime accruing.
